I met Bob and Doug

But not of the McKenzie brothers fame, just Bob and Doug from outside of Orangeville.

I headed up to Bolton for the weekend to visit the FlyGurlz women’s mountain bike relay and afterwards checked into my campsite. I was there a few minutes, beginning a fire to make my dinner, when one of my neighbours came over to say hello. Her name was Nadine. She asked if I was by myself, to which I said “yes”, and to come on over for a visit.

So, I finished cooking my dinner, grabbed a beer and headed over to their campsite. I then met Nadine’s boyfriend, Bob, and her father, Doug. There are no boundaries or separation in camping; most people are just generally friendly and these folks certainly were. I wish life were more like that, more often.

We started to chat and they asked me a bit about my decals on Miss Daisy and why I was travelling alone. A nice diversion from the usual conversation starters when you first meet a stranger like, “so, what do you do (for a living)?” Why should that question define us??? “Ummmm, I’m a Daisymobile driver….”
